Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common, degenerative joint disease characterized by the breakdown of cartilage, the smooth tissue that cushions the ends of bones in the joints. This deterioration leads to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced joint flexibility. OA typically affects weight-bearing joints like the knees, hips, and spine, but can also impact other joints. It often develops gradually over time and is more common in older adults, though it can also be influenced by factors like genetics, previous joint injuries, and obesity.
