An MCL tear is an injury to the medial collateral ligament (MCL), which provides stability to the inner part of the knee. It commonly occurs due to a direct impact or a force that pushes the knee sideways. Symptoms include pain along the inner knee, swelling, and difficulty moving the joint and giving away of sensation of joint. In long standing cases will lead deformity and osteoarthritis.
